The Middlesex University offers the MSc degree in Electronic Security and Digital Forensics in Hong Kong, in collaboration with the School of Professional and Continuing Education, The Hong Kong University, Pokfulam.

BIS 4630 is a 18-week course in Hong Kong. In the UK, it is a 21-week course. In the 18th week, Hong Kong students, acting as Financial Crime Prevention Officers, are required to present strategies for mitigation of financial risks to the Board of Directors.

“The module aims to give students a broad understanding of regulatory compliance and the detection, investigation and prevention of financial crime (e.g. fraud, electronic crime, money laundering) in corporate environments. Students will gain an understanding of the nature and purposes of regulation in the area of financial services, and how compliance is managed in practice. Students will gain knowledge and skills related to the use of digital forensic tools and techniques to manage compliance, mitigate risks and investigate financial crime. The module will focus on the UK regulatory framework as well as international models, conventions and standards.”

Course contents

BIS 4630 consists mainly of 5 domains:

  1. Fraud (Week 1 to 2);

  2. Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism (Week 3 to 5)

  3. Market Abuse (Week 6 to 8);

  4. Anti-Bribery and Corruption (Week 9 to 11);

  5. Information Security (Week 12 to 13);

  6. Corporate Governance (Week 14 to 16); and

  7. Revision (Week 17).
